Ministry of Choral Music at St Mary’s Church, Bridport
Four-part choral music enriches worship at St Mary’s. The choir of 16 choristers sings each Sunday at the 9.30 a.m. Parish Communion and at 4.00 p.m. Choral Evensongs on the first Sunday of most months. Leading the singing at civic services, national observances and other special services is regarded by the choir as a privilege. The biggest challenge is the annual Service of Lessons & Carols. The choir is available to sing at funerals, blessings, weddings and other family ceremonies.

The musical repertoire is wide and varied drawing on the best of traditional and contemporary music.
The choir is a friendly and mutually supportive group. It practices for an hour and a quarter each Friday from 7.00 pm preparing the weekly round of introits, anthems, hymns, psalms and service settings. The hard work is punctuated with humour and laughter. New members of all ages are always welcome; there is no audition or voice test. Coming along to a few practices is an ideal way of ‘testing the water’ without commitment. For more information please contact Tim Linsley (01297 442358 or Sue Smith (01308 456955.
Bless, O Lord, us Thy servants who minister in Thy temple.
Grant that what we sing with our lips we may believe in our hearts,
and what we believe in our hearts we may show forth in our lives.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
The church is affiliated to the Royal School of Church Music. The RSCM aims to promote the best use of good music in worship – whatever the style and whatever the resources.
