Our annual carol service for members of the Emergency Services and Health Care professionals in the town was very well attended.  Worshipers were greeted with the dramatic scene of a police motor bike with lights flashing as they walked along the dark path to church.  Among those attending was Commodore Rupert Best, Deputy Lieutenant of the County, the Chief Constable Debbie Simpson, Leader of West Dorset District Council Gillian Summers and representing the Mayor, Councilor Geoff Ackerman.  The police, ambulance, fire and rescue service, and coastguard were represented as well as the Dorset and Somerset Air ambulance, the St. John’s Ambulance Brigade and the Red Cross.  The worship was a mixture of traditional carols and readings along with pieces by acapella group Wild Thyme.  The service ended with a hearty and hilarious rendition of the ‘Twelve Days of Christmas’ in which the various organisations all played their part (the ten firemen being ‘maids-a-milking’.)  A wonderful occasion all around.
