Advent Course 3
“The Slightly Subversive Alternative Christmas/Advent Group” with Revd Pete Stone from 30 Nov for 4 weeks till 21 Dec in St John’s Church West Bay. The heating will be on and a glass of wine, orange juice or hot chocolate, parking is opposite St John’s in the Bridport Arms car park. Aim is to meet at 7.30pm & start about 7.45pm, after a chance to chat, and finish by 9. Below is some “suggested” homework before each week:
Week 1: (29 Nov) What we know, what we don’t know The Biblical Christmas Story : Read Matthew 1: 18- 2:23 & Luke 2: 1-20
Week 2: (7 Dec) How Radical is Your Nativity? Read Luke 1: 46-55 The subversive nature of the Christmas Story : politics, characters.
Week 3: (14 Dec) Can a Scientist Believe the Christmas Story? Read a Christmas Sermon by John Lennox
Week 4: (21 Dec) Have yourself a Merry little Christmas What do our favourite films, songs and traditions tell us about Christmas? Indulge yourself, watch, listen or read your favourite Christmas Film, song, book or poem or challenge yourself, watch something different? To book: email:

“Exploration of Advent Hymns” with Revd Phil Ringer from 1st Dec at 7pm (4 sessions) in St Mary’s Church Bridport. To book: please email:

Advent Course 6
“Wild Advent – Walking the Way” with Revd Lorna Johnson. You will be given a card with a page for each week of advent to interact with. It will include a walking route, nature notes, a midrash scripture story or poem to spark a conversation, a suggested spot to enjoy a little silence, a candle to light and a prayer and suggested activity for the week.
